What we ask for and what
we end up getting are usually,
two completely different things.Praying at night, for the things
we want most or for things we don’t need.Praying that God will replace people
that have long been dead and people
that have long removed themselves
from our line of sight.I forgot how to pray a long time ago
because, I don’t think it ever suited me.It was only something I did to appease
my parents, before pillows consumed
my head.When I grew up, I lost the fixed eyes
of my parents as well as the appetite
to talk to someone that wasn’t there.
